I work as a coach, with a specialism in interview coaching, in order to help my clients prepare for a specific interview or series of interviews, whether for a job or for a university place.
As an experienced interviewer I have a strong understanding of what makes a good candidate and can help you polish an already strong interview style or work on areas that need practice. Typically I work with those new to, or out of practice in, interviewing. My candidates include those senior in their field, or those who have not in the interview process, had the success they had hoped for. This is despite being technically a strong candidate for a job or university place. I can give you the opportunity to practice your interview approach and to prepare effectively, helping you to present your best points during an interview.
My coaching practice has developed to include working as a life coach. This development has been client led and I take on work in this field when specifically asked to do so.
I work also as a Myers Briggs practitioner, either one to one or in group workshops.
"Presenting yourself as you are on one of your best days"
I coach candidates to prepare them for job or university interviews. I work with those experienced in the world of work, with graduates and with school leavers.
I have had extensive experience in interviewing graduates for one of the top financial services firms, PwC, whilst with them regularly interviewing 18% of graduates for their London Assurance intake in a season. In my time with them I conducted well over one thousand interviews in a highly competitive environment.
I am trained in the use of the Myers Briggs personality type instrument, and have a strong interest in working with candidates to present at their best whilst allowing them to be themselves.
"We couldn't give him the job because he gave a poor interview, although I knew he was the best person for the job"
Panel interviewer comment after an interview for a senior post
If you are not communicating your skills effectively at interview, working with me will give you the time and space to practice your interview technique and discuss in a tailored way how to best present yourself.
I offer either one-off sessions, or a series of sessions to work on specific areas following an assessment of what you want to achieve. This will usually mean meeting for 50 minutes once a week or fortnight either in South West or central London at a location convenient to you. Tight schedules and other locations can make Skype the best option.
"As an experienced professional I had no problem with selection for the initial interview stage of the hiring process, my CV, contacts and references 'opened the door' but I couldn't 'close the deal' with the executive decision makers; my interview skills were letting me down and I repeatedly failed to secure the role. Following a personal recommendation I engaged Sarah Peart for advice, guidance and interview coaching and within one session she had stripped back my approach, simplified my delivery, focused on my strengths and enabled me to articulate what value I would deliver to a prospective employer - and it worked - the next day I nailed the interview and got a job offer.
The key?
In short Sarah had rebuilt my self-confidence."
"I have known Sarah socially for many years and had come to an awkward crossroads where it was apparent that I needed some help. Sarah's calm, confident and pragmatic approach was reassuring and helped to build my confidence. After just one session with Sarah, I made changes to my CV and gained interviews with two companies. Sarah made me realise that I had been too reserved in pitching my strengths as well as lacking confidence when answering sometimes very basic questions. Her analysis of me as a person was spot on and she helped to draw out all of my positive attributes. With the second company, it enabled me to impress them such that I knew I would be invited back for a second interview and left me confident after that, that I had got the role; which I had."
"I used her coaching to look at where I was heading at work and to get work back into a manageable part of my life. I felt much more positive about the issues I raised for discussion. I've drawn on her coaching quite a bit since we finished the sessions, and am really pleased to have been subsequently promoted into an area that matches my interests."
"Sarah Peart was introduced to me via a trusted friend. In the past year I had come close to getting several excellent positions but somehow just fell at the last hurdle. I was beginning to feel that my interview technique was becoming stale and that I was starting to sound like a broken record. It was time to be challenged - and I had come across an international senior marketing position in my area of core competence and I didn't want this opportunity to pass by. I had three very intensive and rigorous sessions with Sarah which meant I went into the final stages of the interview process with a clear head and new found confidence based on thorough preparedness. I won the position and I have already begun what I think is an ideal position for myself in a top-class company."
"When interviewing for a new role, I used Sarah Peart Coaching. The focused and friendly coaching coupled with incisive and informed feedback really helped my confidence and I found I moved incredibly quickly into a new position."
"I found it really helpful to talk through my concerns ahead of a job change interview; I found it helped me a great deal to speak to someone who is very familiar with the process of presenting your best side at interview in a clear, professional and friendly way. I also appreciated the time spent to bring out the best of my personality and values. It definitely gave me confidence, concentration and clarity and I was successful."
